THE CHOREOGRAPHY OF PERCEPTION
Not everything moves.
Not everything breathes.
Not everything shapes the world around it.
But what does,
what defines how we perceive,
what moves through space and time,
Becomes Identity. Becomes Rhythm. Becomes Atmosphere.
VISUAL. MOTION. OLFACTORY.
multisensory design and innovation
across culture, film, branding and entertainment

I’m Carolin Vedder. I work across motion, olfactory, space and visual systems.
I choreograph tension, rhythm and presence across media. From trailers to title sequences, identities to campaigns, exhibitions to spatial design.
My work focuses on structure and impact: how perception is shaped across time, image, movement and sensory experience.
I’m building a multisensory translation model that defines how sound, color, form, motion, temperature, time, and other perceptual elements interact through structured relationships. It allows sensory information to be composed, synchronized, and designed across media.
One focus is on olfactory media, creating tools and systems that allow scent to be composed, synchronized, and integrated with visual and auditory content. This work builds the foundation for new formats, interfaces, and real-time multisensory design.
I work as a designer and system author across motion, visual identity, scent, and multisensory experience. Over the past 25 years, I’ve shaped broadcast channels, film campaigns, cultural formats, and cross-sensory installations reaching millions across media, brand, and public space. What began as high-impact execution has developed into a structural approach: I now build perception systems that define how audiences engage with rhythm, image, atmosphere, and identity.
Rooted in Modernism, the Wiener Werkstätte and the early Avant-Garde, inspired by Suprematism, Swiss Design and a Punks logic of disruption, my approach combines conceptual clarity, contrast, tension and resonance with structural invention.
Clients include MTV, Nickelodeon, ZDF, ORF, CERN, Mercedes, VW, SEAT, Audi, Siemens and Douglas. The Bauhaus Missing Scents prototype introduced new structural methods for cross-sensory composition.
MOTION BRANDING SYSTEMS
Motion expresses identity through the character of mood, behavior, state and status.
FILM & TELEVISION IDENTITY
Building one coherent design engine instead of fragmented content assets.
CULTURAL COMMUNICATION
Expanding static exhibitions and display content into multisensory environments.
SCENT CONCEPT & STRATEGY
Turning scent into a conceptual tool with real narrative function.
MULTISENSORY R&D
Developing a consistent system for cross-modal translation and playback.

THE METHOD
I start before design, before script, before concept.
When the direction is undefined and nothing holds charge.
I identify the gap between content and experience.
I define what’s missing.
I begin with perception. Not with story. Not with format.
What must it trigger? What must it resist?
From there, I build across the visual system, the time-based logic and sensory architecture. Every element positioned. Every response intentional.
I design presence. I strip what dilutes. I shape what hits.
AI can generate anything. But it can’t decide what not to.
It can’t measure consequence, fatigue or cultural weight.
It follows. It floods. It doesn’t choose.
We define what enters. What’s withheld. What matters.

The perception of scent is the moment when past and future memories collide.
